CSWE welcomed comments from President Joe Biden in the State of the Union Address and condemns Republican efforts to pass state laws that attack transgender and LGBTQ+ children and families.

CSWE, speaking as a collective of educators and social workers, vehemently condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As stated in our Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards, the purpose of the social work profession is to “promote human and community well-being,” and that we achieve this through the “quest for social and economic justice, the prevention of conditions that limit human rights, the elimination of poverty, and the enhancement of the quality of life for all persons, locally and globally.”

Enrollment increased over 1% at accredited social work programs offering baccalaureate (1.3%) and master’s (1.7%) degrees from 2019-2020, according to the results of a survey from the Council on Social Work Education.

To help celebrate Social Work Month, CSWE has created a dedicated space for social work educators, students, and social workers to reflect on this year’s theme, “The Time is Right for Social Work.” Share photos, videos, quotes, testimonies, poems, paintings, or other content that align with the theme for a chance to be featured at a March 25 meeting.

CSWE is undergoing a process of reviewing and revising the Annual Survey on Social Work Education in the United States to streamline data collection and reporting. One result of that process is the modification of data collection procedures – the existing survey, which collects data using a long questionnaire, will be split into multiple components and administered at various times throughout the year to each social work program’s primary contact.
