GSU’s School of Social Work Joins NCWWI Partnerships
The National Child Welfare Workforce Institute (NCWWI) has named the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (GA-DFCS), Georgia State University, and the University of Georgia one of eight national NCWWI Agency–University Partnership Workforce Excellence sites. Georgia State’s School of Social Work will receive $579,000 as a Workforce Excellence partner with GA-DFCS. The grant will cover the tuition and fees and provide stipends to MSW students who are accepted into the competitive program. In exchange, they will join or return to the GA-DFCS workforce after graduation. Learn more here.

Educator|Resource of the Month Winter & Spring Recap
In June the Center for Diversity and Social &Economic Justice will recap the previous seven issues of the Educator|Resource of the Month, which provide creative teaching resources on diversity and justice. In addition to ways to motivate empathy and critical thinking in students, the resources offer cutting edge diversity practice models in areas such as disability, behavioral health, and immigration.

Member Feedback Requested on Annual Survey
As we think about the future of the Annual Survey, we will also be soliciting feedback from the general membership. We want to know about the types of data points members would like to see included in future Annual Surveys and how that information should be presented to the membership. The survey was sent out via e-mail on May 16, but if you did not receive the e-mail, you can also use this link to complete it by July 1.
 
Submit Your 2017–2018 Student Data for the 2018 Annual Survey
The 2018 Annual Survey was e-mailed to each programs’ primary contact on May 6 via our survey platform, Qualtrics. Your participation helps us obtain an accurate picture of social work education. Please complete the survey by July 1 and contact us if you did not receive the survey e-mail.

Register Now for the Kempe Interdisciplinary Summer Research Institute
The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect in Denver, CO, has developed a graduate-level intensive summer session in child abuse research. They hope to expand the numbers of researchers working in this field and better prepare these researchers to seek National Institutes of Health and other support for their work. The event will take place August 5–9; learn about their scholarship opportunities and register here.
 
Upcoming Substance Use Webinars
Register now for the SBIRT Webinar Series and save the date(s) on your calendar! This webinar series is hosted by NORC at the University of Chicago, the Adolescent SBIRT Project, and The BIG Initiative, with funding from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The following events are still available for registration: Integrating Adolescent SBIRT Education Into Health Professional Training: Findings From a National Effort to Prepare the Next Workforce and Adolescent Substance Use: Contemporary Trends in Prevention & Treatment.
 
AIAMC Call for Applications for National Initiative on Teaming
The Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC) is accepting applications for participation in their National Initiative VII: Teaming for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice. This 18-month initiative will feature monthly teleconferences or webinars and four in-person meetings. Monthly cohort teleconference groups will be structured by themes based on focus areas identified in the applications, with best practices from all cohort groups shared at the on-site meetings. Completed applications are due by May 31, 2019, and must be e-mailed or faxed. 
 
Call for Proposals: $20,000 Marian R. Stuart Grant
The American Psychological Foundation is currently seeking applications for the Marian R. Stuart Grant, which awards up to $20,000 to further the research, practice, or education of an early career psychologist on the connection between mental and physical health, particularly for work that contributes to public health. Examples include research-based programs that teach medical doctors counseling skills, research-based programs on the effect of behavior on health, and research-based programs on psychologists’ role in medical settings for the benefit of patients. The deadline for applications is July 1, 2019.
 
Roy Scrivner Memorial Research Grants Call for Proposals
The American Psychological Foundation is currently seeking applications for the Roy Scrivner Memorial Research Grants, which award $11,000 toward empirical and applied research focused on lesbian, gay, and bisexual family psychology and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) family therapy. This program seeks to encourage the study of LGBT family psychology and therapy through its support of promising young investigators whose graduate research is oriented toward issues in this general area. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2019.
