For the second consecutive year, the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Social Work has captured five top honors at the annual conference of the National Association of Social Workers-Mississippi chapter, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was given to outgoing director Dr. Tim Rehner for his 25-plus years of service at the USM School of Social Work. Social Work With Immigrants, Refugees, and Migrants
Our next Educator|Resource of the Month will address the timely topic of immigration. It will feature course materials to prepare students to work effectively with and advocate for foreign-born populations. Using a flipped-classroom format, class time is spent on active and applied learning. The resource will include the course syllabus, learning activities, discussion questions, and assignments.

Program Director Academy Now Accepting Applications
The CSWE Leadership Institute is now accepting applications for the Program Director Academy, a 1-year leadership certificate program focused on developing management and leadership competencies for program directors. The academy is specifically for current baccalaureate and master’s program directors who have been in their positions less than 3 years, have direct oversight of the program, and are transitioning from faculty to administrative roles. MFP Master’s March Training
Forty-one MFP master’s fellows attended an in-person training March 24–26 that included preparation for the workforce, networking, and mentorship. After graduation all fellows will provide mental health and/or substance use services to underserved populations. Presenters for the training included Dr. Larke N. Huang from the Office of Behavioral Health Equity at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and Dr. David Patterson Silver Wolf from Washington University in St. Louis.

New MSW/MPH Program Resources From BU School of Social Work
A new publication for current and prospective MSW/MPH program administrators and educators, Advancing Leadership in Public Health Social Work Education: MSW/MPH Program Handbook, is now available. The handbook provides practical information on how to build and strengthen these popular and valuable dual-degree programs and is part of the Boston University Advancing Leadership in Public Health Social Work Education project, (BU-ALPS), which was funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 2017–2018.
Register Now for the Kempe Interdisciplinary Summer Research Institute
The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect in Denver, CO, has developed a graduate-level intensive summer session in child abuse research to expand the numbers of researchers working in this field and better prepare them to apply for National Institutes of Health and other support for their work.
