Latest CSWE Statistics on Social Work Education Released
The findings from the 2013 Annual Survey are now available on the CSWE website. The Annual Survey of Social Work Programs is a census of accredited social work programs in the United States, conducted by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) since 1952. Data collected in the online Annual Survey are the primary source of information about social work students, graduates, and faculty members.
A few highlights from the report:
- As of fall term 2013 there were 88,727 full-time and 26,093 part-time social work students.
- Top concentrations by type and number of students enrolled were Direct Practice/Clinical, Children, Youth, and Families, Advanced Generalist, and Mental Health.
- Programs reported 4,981 full-time and 6,444 part-time faculty members:
- 69.4% of full-time faculty and 72.4% of part-time faculty were female
- 30.0% of full-time faculty and 23.1% of part-time faculty were from historically under-represented groups
