University of Iowa’s SSW Certificate Program Recognized 
The Aging and Longevity Studies Program (ALSP) at the University of Iowa School of Social Work offers a certificate program that has earned the Program of Merit designation from the Academy for Gerontology in Higher Education, a national membership organization of colleges and universities that offers education, training, and research programs in the field of aging. The school’s undergraduate ALSP certificate program is the first program in Iowa to achieve this distinction. Read the full story.

Registration Now Open for the 2019 Fall IPEC Institute
The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) is now welcoming super early bird registrants for the 2019 Fall IPEC Institute, “Strengthening Partnerships for IPE and Collaborative Practice,” which will be held on October 2–4, 2019, in Portland, Oregon. Early bird registration will close on July 1. Register now if you’re a social work educator interested in strengthening and improving collaborative partnerships with other health professions. We need you to represent social work!

IPEC and AAMC Announce MedEdPORTAL IPE Collection Associate Editor
The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) have announced Dr. Jeannine Nonaillada as the associate editor for the MedEdPORTAL Interprofessional Education (IPE) Collection. Dr. Nonaillada is the assistant dean of Faculty Development and Mentoring and an assistant professor at the New York University Long Island School of Medicine. MedEdPORTAL is an open-access journal of teaching and learning resources in the health professions hosted by the AAMC.

2018–2019 Educator|Resource Compilation Now Available
In June the Diversity Center is pleased to provide a compilation of the Winter and Spring 2018–2019 issues of the Educator|Resource. Learn about creative teaching resources on diversity and social, economic, and environmental justice created by scholars in the field. In addition to ways to motivate empathy and critical thinking in students, the resources offer cutting-edge diversity practice models on topics such as disability, behavioral health, and immigration.

New Report on Demand for Recent MSW Grads
The National Workforce Initiative recently released a new report that provides an analysis of the 2018 Social Work Graduates Survey, assessing the relative demand for social work-related roles in the workforce today.

Participate in This Year’s Global Agenda Survey
CSWE is currently gathering information regarding the 2020 theme and fourth pillar of the Global Agenda, “Promoting the importance of human relationships.” The survey will help CSWE and the Global Agenda better understand how social work professionals are promoting the importance of human relationships. CSWE Annual Survey Open
The Annual Survey was distributed by e-mail to all accredited program representatives on May 6, with a deadline to complete the survey by July 1. If you are a program representative and have not received an e-mail link to complete the survey, please check this Web page for more information.
 
Member Annual Survey Feedback Survey
As we think about the future of the Annual Survey, we will also be soliciting feedback from the general membership about the types of data points they would like to see included in future Annual Surveys and how that information should be presented to the membership. If you have not already done so, use this link to complete the survey by July 1.

CSWE’s Rainbow Papers
Guidelines for Affirmative Social Work Education is a resource for creating social work educational environments that support lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and questioning students, faculty members, administrators, and staff members. Creating affirmative social work educational environments for transgender and gender nonconforming populations is addressed in a companion document, Guidelines for Transgender and Gender Nonconforming (TGNC) Inclusive Social Work Education.
 
Open Call for Fulbright Specialist in Kuwait
As part of the CSWE Commission on Global Social Work Education’s outreach with Fulbright Programs, we recently received an Open Call for a Fulbright Specialist to work with partners in the Kuwait Ministry of Social Affairs this fall and spring. This collaboration includes two visits in an initiative to plan and open Kuwait's first shelter for women who have experienced domestic violence. World Learning, the organization operating the Fulbright Specialist Program, is seeking candidates with significant expertise who are qualified but not yet on the Fulbright Specialist Roster. The application deadline is July 1.
 
Early Child Care and Education Funding Opportunity Announced
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has announced a funding opportunity, Building Evidence on Access to Early Child Care and Education (ECE) for Low-Income Families. This funding opportunity supports action-oriented research that advances health equity, builds the knowledge base, and informs policymaking to increase access to ECE for low-income families. RWJF strongly encourages applications that include researchers who are from groups that are underrepresented in policy research and/or who are affiliated with institutions that serve underrepresented groups. The deadline for brief proposals is July 25, 2019, 3:00 pm (EDT).
