2018–2019 Health and Aging Policy Fellowship: Call for Applications
Applications are now open for 2018–2019 Health and Aging Policy Fellows. The year-long fellowship offers a unique training and enrichment program that is focused on current policy issues, communication skills development, and professional networking opportunities to provide fellows with the experience and skills necessary to help affect policy. Patrick Bordnick, dean of the Tulane University School of Social Work, received one of five Not Impossible Awards in January during the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV, for his work in the field of virtual reality.
Larry Davis, dean, Donald M. Henderson Professor, and director, Center on Race and Social Problems at the University of Pittsburgh, has won the Society for Social Work and Research 2018 Distinguished Career Achievement Award. His book, Why Are They Angry With Us? Essays on Race, also won the Book Award, Honorable Mention at the conference.
Desmond U. Patton, assistant professor at the Columbia School of Social Work, has received the 2018 Deborah K. Padgett Early Career Achievement Award from the Society for Social Work and Research. Dr. Patton is the director of the SAFE Lab at the Columbia School of Social Work, a research initiative focused on how youths of color navigate violence on- and offline.
Michael Sherraden, the George Warren Brown Distinguished University Professor and director of the Center for Social Development at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, received the Society for Social Work and Research’s 2018 Social Policy Researcher Award.
