New Recommendations for Eliminating Alzheimer's Disease Now Available
The first U.S. National Plan to Address Alzheimer's Disease was released in May 2012. It represents a major step forward toward accomplishing the primary goal of the Plan to "prevent and effectively treat Alzheimer's disease (AD) by 2025." The Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Research, Care and Services provided advice on the first Plan and made additional recommendations to Secretary Sebelius at that time for items that could not be included but were believed to be necessary to accomplish the goal by 2025.
The Advisory Council has now reassessed its recommendations from the original plan and revised them for the development of the next version of the plan in 2013. These new recommendations of the Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Research, Care, and Services reflect advancements in the field but also recognize the huge challenges that remain.
