
UNC School of Social Work Awarded $1 Million Grant for Tiny Homes Village
The University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Social Work has been awarded a $1 million, 2-year grant from the international Oak Foundation to help fund the construction of the Tiny Homes Village, a demonstration project designed to create a new form of affordable housing for people with mental illnesses and other health conditions. The village will also support and house veterans in need. The project is being built through a public–private partnership led by local nonprofit Cross Disability Services Inc. and the School of Social Work. Read more here.

2020 Spring IPEC Institute
The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) will hold its next institute, titled “Building a Framework for IPE for Collaborative Practice,” May 19–21, 2020, at the AAMC Learning Center in Washington, DC. The institute will provide participants the opportunity to acquire and use knowledge and skills to further advance their existing institutional interprofessional education and collaborative practice programs. Registration will open in December 2019.

CSWE is now accepting applications for track chair and co-chair vacancies for the 2020 Annual Program Meeting (APM) Tracks. Track chairs are volunteers who provide leadership by soliciting and reviewing APM proposals and maintaining a network around the track topic area by active participation in the track's online community. Site Visitor Volunteer Opportunities
CSWE is seeking site visitors to support the accreditation reaffirmation process. Site visitors will visit social work programs and gather clarifying information that is being requested by the Commission on Accreditation (COA). We are seeking a diverse group of site visitors who represent a broad range of programs. Volunteers who can read, speak, and write fluently in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply. CSWE Awarded $500K SAMHSA Grant for Practitioner Education in Substance Use Disorders
The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) has been awarded a grant of nearly $500,000 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to expand substance use disorder (SUD) practitioner education in social work. The 2-year project will implement a high-quality standardized SUD curriculum, which will strengthen the preparation of future social work practitioners to deliver effective, evidence-based SUD prevention, treatment, and recovery services; read more here.

LEAD Training Program Fellowship Opportunity
The LEAD Training Program is recruiting advanced predoctoral students and postdoctoral trainees from diverse backgrounds across the United States, including groups underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences research, interested in global mental health disparities research. This includes early career researchers and investigators within 5 years of their terminal degree.

Millersville University SBIRT Model Training and Certification
Millersville University School of Social Work’s Learning Institute is sponsoring a 2-day Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) model training, presented by Dr. Marc Felizzi. The training will be held on December 20–21 from 9:00 am–4:00pm. Upon the completion of the 2-day training, participants will receive a certification in SBIRT and 12 CE hours.
