SAGE Publications and CSWE to Honor 2014 Innovative Teaching in Social Work Education Award Winners

Alexandria, VA, September 12, 2014 – SAGE Publications and the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) are proud to announce the two recipients of the SAGE/CSWE 2014 Award for Innovative Teaching in Social Work Education Award. They are Leslie Hollingsworth (University of Michigan) and Christine McKenna Lok (Regis College).

Hollingsworth and Lok will be recognized at the CSWE 2014 Annual Program Meeting (APM) on Friday, October 24 from 9:30 am–9:45 am (Tampa Convention Center, Ballrooms A-B). Learn more about the 2014 recipients and their innovations during the workshops each of them will present at the 2014 APM on Saturday, October 25.

The annual SAGE/CSWE Award is presented by SAGE, working in collaboration with CSWE. This award was established in February 2012 to promote innovative teaching in social work by highlighting it as it emerges, and recognize the individuals who have played significant roles in bringing it about.

The three themes identified for the 2014 awards follow.

  1. Educating social work students for behavioral health and/or the changing environment of health care
  2. Education for practice with vulnerable and marginalized populations
  3. Teaching students to be effective research consumers and researchers

More information about selection criteria and specific themes for the 2014 SAGE/CSWE Award can be found on the CSWE website. 

Award recipients receive a complimentary registration to APM (one per individual award or up to two per team award provided by CSWE), and travel and lodging are paid for up to $1,500 per individual or team by SAGE Publications. In addition, the awardees will receive $500 worth of SAGE books or journals.
