SAGE Publications Partners With CSWE to Reward Innovative Teaching in Social Work Education

Who: SAGE Publications in collaboration with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)

What: Launch of the inaugural SAGE/CSWE Award for Innovative Teaching in Social Work Education. For the 2012 award the SAGE Human Services Advisory Board has identified three themes it considers to be very important to social work education:

  • The use of cyber and communication technologies in education
  • Education for reflective practice
  • Promoting inclusion

Applications describing innovative teaching in other areas will receive equal consideration.

Why: The award seeks to promote innovative teaching in social work and recognize the individuals who have played significant roles in bringing about those innovations.

When: The call for proposals opened on February 10, 2012, and will close on March 30, 2012. The award recipients will be announced on May 1, 2012.

Where: The awards will be presented on November 10, 2012, at the Special Plenary Session of this year’s CSWE Annual Program Meeting (APM), which will be held November 9 – 12, 2012, in Washington, DC. Awardees will receive a complimentary registration to APM (one per individual award or up to two per team award provided by CSWE) and travel and lodging will be paid for up to $1,500 per individual or team by SAGE publications. In addition, the awardees will receive $500 worth of SAGE books or journals.
