WHO: Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and its Board of Directors
WHAT: will recognize:
1. Two 2012 CSWE Significant Lifetime Achievement in Social Work Education Award recipients
- Charles D. Garvin - honored for his seminal influence as an educator, scholar, and mentor over the course of his distinguished career.
- Elaine Pinderhughes - recognized for her extraordinary influence on cultural competency education within the context of socially constructed power in diverse communities.
2. A Distinguished Recent Contributions in Social Work Education Award recipient
- Patricia J. Volland - commended for revolutionizing social work education and field practice with older adults by founding the Social Work Leadership Institute (SWLI) at the New York Academy of Medicine.
WHEN: Friday, November 9 during the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Annual Program Meeting
WHERE: Washington Hilton Hotel, Wasington, DC
WHY: Both awards recognize the achievements of CSWE members, based on their research and scholarship, pedagogy, curriculum development, and organizational leadership.
