WHO: Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and its Board of Directors
WHAT: Will recognize:
1. Two 2013 CSWE Significant Lifetime Achievement in Social Work Education Award Recipients
- Marion Bogo, professor at the University of Toronto, is being recognized for her tireless commitment to improving social work education and her groundbreaking contributions to improving the way we assess competence in social work students.
- Edward R. Canda, professor at the University of Kansas, is being recognized for his prolific and trailblazing work researching the role of religion and spirituality in human development and coping across the lifespan
2. Two 2013 Distinguished Recent Contributions in Social Work Education Award Recipients
- Beverly M. Black, professor and PhD program director, University of Texas at Arlington, is being honored for her significant and broad contributions to social work education in scholarship, pedagogy, and organizational leadership.
- Robert M. Ortega, associate professor at the University of Michigan, is being honored for his innovative work on cultural humility.
WHEN: Thursday, October 31 during the Opening Ceremony of the 2013 Annual Program Meeting
WHERE: Hilton Anatole, Dallas, TX
WHY: Both awards recognize the achievements of CSWE members, based on their research and scholarship, pedagogy, curriculum development, and organizational leadership.
