CSWE encourages members to participate in a Twitter Storm hosted by the Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition to coincide with the markup of the appropriations bill of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Other Related Agencies. The goal is to flood the Senate with reminders of the importance of Title VII and Title VIII programs.
The Title VII and VIII programs support the health care workforce by filling in gaps not addressed by traditional workforce channels and improve access to care for rural, urban, and other disadvantaged communities. The programs also focus on improving the diversity and cultural competency of the health care workforce, and in turn, improve quality of care for the country’s most vulnerable patients.
How to Participate: On Tuesday, September 5 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm, directly tweet to your senators to show your support of Title VII and Title VIII. Be sure to use #TitleVII, #TitleVIII and #fundHRSA. Remember, the more tweets the better!
A list of Senator Twitter handles can be found here, and sample posts are provided below.
