Spring Governance Panel Video on Public Policy Now Available

4/5/2017
Each year CSWE hosts a Spring Governance Meeting in Alexandria, VA, bringing together more than 60 members representing five commissions and the Board of Directors. Important work takes place at this time, with commissions meeting to discuss progress on projects they are working on and connecting with CSWE leadership to ensure that the work of the commissions supports the strategic vision of the organization.

A thought-provoking panel discussion, in collaboration with CSWE’s Public Policy Initiative, took place during the General Session Luncheon on March 23. The title of the session was “Enduring Principles, New Environment: The Path Ahead for Social Work Advocacy.” Panelists were
  • April Burke (moderator), president and founding partner, Lewis-Burke Associates LLC;
  • Jon Pyatt, chief of staff, Office of Representative Cheri Bustos;
  • Saul Hernandez, deputy chief of staff, Office of Representative G. K. Butterfield; and
  • Erin Cadwalader, PhD, CSWE Public Policy Initiative, Lewis-Burke Associates LLC
Knowing that this panel discussion would yield valuable takeaways, we recorded it to share with CSWE membership. A full-length video of the session is now available on CSWE's YouTube here.

CSWE encourages social workers and social work educators to watch the video and be involved with the work of the CSWE Public Policy Initiative on Capitol Hill.
