CSWE Welcomes Minority Advocate and Gerontological Social Worker as Minority Fellowship Program Director

6/14/2018

Nguyen_headshot.JPGThe Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is pleased to announce Duy Nguyen, PhD, LCSW, MSW, as its Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) director, effective June 11, 2018. Nguyen previously served as an associate professor at Temple University and assistant professor at New York University. He was a CSWE MFP doctoral fellow from 2004–2007.  He is also an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University and New York University.

Along with teaching at the master’s and doctoral levels, Nguyen practiced social work at a community mental health center to promote access to behavioral health care for Asian immigrants and refugees in Chicago. He has continued his commitment to addressing minority mental health issues, particularly with Asian immigrant elders, by authoring 26 publications and numerous related conference presentations. His experience as a minority student and former MFP fellow, coupled with his practice and academic expertise, makes him an ideal choice to lead and mentor the diverse fellows of the CSWE MFP.

Nguyen earned his doctoral degree in social work at Columbia University and holds a master’s degree in social work and bachelor of arts from Washington University in St. Louis.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Nguyen to CSWE and feel free to contact him at dnguyen@cswe.org.
