2012 Gero-Ed Track

Experts included Samuel MacMaster (moderator), University of Tennessee; Daniel Rosen, University of Pittsburgh; Kim Stansbury, Eastern Washington University; and Gail Steketee, Boston University. Convened by the Principal Investigators of the Hartford Geriatric Social Work Initiative (GSWI), this panel addressed sustainability and future directions for the initiatives. The GSWI has trained academic leaders to teach, mentor, and conduct cutting-edge research; prepared and sustained a cadre of talented doctoral students; developed aging-rich field education models; and promoted the “gerontologizing” of curriculum.
Institutionalizing Gerontological Curricular Change: Insights from Your Peers

In this Gero-Ed Center-convened panel, four faculty members provided their insights and lessons learned regarding efforts to sustain and institutionalize four CSWE Gero-Ed Center-funded programs aimed at increasing student gerontological competence. Panel members’ discussion of their challenges and strategies to address them, accomplishments, and personal experiences enriched this engaging presentation.
