The theme of the 2010 Gero-Ed Track was Enhancing and Sustaining Innovative Services for LGBT Elders and included several special sessions, namely an award winning documentary, on this topic. Our Kick-Off, Hot Topic Panel, and Film Festival were must-attend sessions for individuals interested in both LGBT issues and in gerontology!

Fredriksen-Goldsen, a renowned expert in lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender (LGBT) issues and older adults, opened the 2010 APM Gero-Ed Track with a discussion of the track theme Enhancing and Sustaining Innovative Services for LGBT Elders (PPT). Infusing Gerontology in Your Textbook: Authors and Editors Workshop

During this session the authors and editors of generalist social work textbooks convened to discuss user-friendly strategies and resources for enhancing aging content in textbooks.
AGESW Reception

This annual reception was open to everyone interested in gero social work in order to foster new connections among individuals who share a commitment to older adults.
Hot Topic Panel

Hosted by the CSWE Gero-Ed Center and AGESW, the 2010 Hot Topic Panel addressed LGBT issues and aging from the transgender community’s and service providers’ perspective. Panelists were Loree Cook-Daniels (PPT), founder, Transgender Aging Network; Arielle Rosen (PPT), Director of Seniors Services, L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center; and Serena Worthington (PPT), Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Elders (SAGE). Nancy Kropf, Director of School and Professor, Georgia State University was the panel moderator.
