Submit a Proposal for the 2011 APM

1/3/2011

You can submit your proposal online until Monday, February 28 at 11:59 pm ET. To have your proposal considered for the Gero-Ed Track, select the “Gero-Ed (Aging and Gerontology) Track” option. The Gero-Ed Track description provides guidance when considering your proposal.

The Gero-Ed Track especially encourages proposal submission for CEU eligible sessions, which include:

  • Curriculum or Administrative Workshop. 60 minutes.1 CEU. A Curriculum Workshop focuses on curriculum content and instructional methods. It is intended to enhance faculty knowledge and skills in the development, design, and implementation of the social work curriculum. An Administrative Workshop focuses on program administrative concerns. It is intended to provide administrators with knowledge and skills, in order to enhance program development and/or implementation.
  • Panel. 90 minutes. 1.5 CEUs. A formal, thematic discussion by several experts (no more than 4) to explore both issues and new ideas facing the profession.
  • Skills Workshop. 60 minutes. 1.0 CEU. Workshops teach a specific skill needed by practitioners and educators and include one or more exercises that let attendees practice using this new skill. Workshops may take many forms, but each will include an overview of a new skill or technique and a hands-on practice opportunity.
  • Think Tank. 60 minutes. 1.0 CEU. A Think Tank is a 60–minute session focusing on a single issue or question. A chairperson orients attendees to the issue/question and its relevant context. Once the issue or question is framed by the chair, it may be supplemented by very short presentations by other facilitators describing different aspects of the issue. Attendees will break into small groups to explore the issue or question. Discussion is facilitated either by a designated person at each table or by one or more facilitators guiding the whole group. After group discussion, the chairperson reconvenes attendees to identify what has been learned and/or next steps in an action-based process.

Faculty Development Institutes, Field Directors Development Institutes, and Leadership Development Institutes are also CEU eligible. Sessions that are not CEU eligible are: electronic posters, papers, posters, and roundtables. For full descriptions of presentation formats, please visit here.
