HPPAE-VHA Partnership Grows

6/23/2014

The Gero-Ed Center is pleased to announce that the HPPAE-VHA partnership is expanding to three VA Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) sites and one VA hospital in fall 2014! The new partners include the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC and GRECC sites in Durham, NC; Pittsburgh, PA; and Nashville, TN. The Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education (HPPAE), a field-based educational model that prepares students to work in a variety of geriatric settings, is a natural fit with GRECCs, which serve as centers of excellence in geriatric research, education, and innovative clinical services. This partnership gives master’s-level social work students the opportunity to gain the competencies necessary to better serve the older veteran population. The new VA partners will join nine GRECC sites and two VA hospitals that have already implemented HPPAE.
