Proposed CSWE Bylaws Revisions Approved

In their March 2018 meeting, the CSWE Board of Directors approved revisions to the CSWE bylaws. These revisions were proposed as the culmination of a two-year review process by a sub-committee of the Board of Directors, CSWE staff, and legal consultants. One of the main changes is to move the procedural details out of the bylaws into a procedures manual. This is done in accordance with best practices for associations and will allow the CSWE commissions and committees flexibility to adjust their charge or procedures without needing a vote by the membership. Other changes include updating the titles to be consistent throughout, changing the President/CEO from voting to non-voting member of the Board of Directors, and adding two members of the Board to the National Nominating Committee.

CSWE Board of Directors Chair Barbara Shank voted on June 26 on behalf of the proxy ballots at CSWE.  Proxy ballots were sent to all full members in June. A total of 592 proxy ballots were cast, representing 24% of graduate program members, 22% of undergraduate program members, 20% of the faculty and administrators members, and 15% of individual members.
