Program Outcomes

By all measures the HPPAE has had a positive impact on educating new cohorts of social workers who work in aging and help to meet a critical societal need as the population continues to age. The HPPAE has played an integral role in:

  • increasing the number of aging services and other agencies available for field placements;
  • promoting collaboration between schools and agencies;
  • achieving high student satisfaction;
  • increasing support for and enhancing the role of field instructors; and
  • expanding interprofessional collaboration across departments and new collaborations with schools of nursing, pharmacy, and medicine.

By the spring of 2012, 67 schools of social work had received funding in 33 states to implement HPPAE and have graduated a total of more than 2,600 students.
