New Study on Civic Health Released
Got Your 6 recently unveiled the findings of the first-ever Veterans Civic Health Index at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The report indicates that veterans strengthen communities by volunteering, voting, engaging in government, helping neighbors, and participating in community organizations—all at higher rates than their civilian counterparts.

Social Work Scholars Publish Paper on Health Reform
After social work leaders met last year to identify key components of a strategic plan to promote social work’s involvement in health reform, The Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, the Center for Health Administration Studies at the University of Chicago’s School of Social Administration, the College of Social Work at the University of South Carolina, and the Society for Social Work and Research have published a white paper, Social Work & the Affordable Care Act: Maximizing the Profession’s Role in Health Reform, which covers the topics discussed at the event.
IOM Releases New Interprofessional Education Report
In 2013, the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education held two workshops on interprofessional education. An IOM consensus committee later convened to examine the existing evidence on this complex issue and consider the potential design of future studies that could expand this evidence base; access the report here.
