NIH Seeks Feedback for Undergraduate Scholarship Program

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposes to issue regulations to implement provisions of the Public Health Service Act authorizing the NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program Regarding Professions Needed by National Research Institutes (UGSP) to recruit appropriately qualified undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds to conduct research in the intramural research program as employees of the NIH by providing scholarship support. Comments must be received by July 28, 2014, to ensure that the NIH will be able to consider the comments in preparing the final rule.

Call for Nominations for 2014 Adoption Excellence Awards

The Adoption Excellence Awards, announced annually by the Children’s Bureau, honor leadership and innovation in the commitment toward rebuilding the lives of children in foster care and those who are waiting for adoption. Nominations will be reviewed and award winners recommended by a panel of recognized experts in the adoption field, including members from Federal and State agencies; all nominations must be received by Thursday, July 31, 2014.

Financial Capability Call for Papers

The Center for Social Development at Washington University in St. Louis and the Financial Social Work Initiative at the University of Maryland are accepting submissions of scholarly papers for a convening to be held April 8-10, 2015, in St. Louis, MO. Papers should assess practice and policy roles of social workers in the area of Financial Capability and Asset Building (FCAB), examine approaches to teaching FCAB in social work, and inform understanding of reaching vulnerable populations with FCAB policies and programs.
