Leadership Development Institute

A Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is 3 hours in length. Those selected for the 2015 APM will be held on Thursday, October 15.

  • A Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is a preconference workshop in which a senior faculty/administrator with special expertise shares knowledge for the purpose of promoting leadership roles and enhancing leadership skills.
  • It focuses on topics in social work education with a broad appeal and merits a 3-hour allotment of time for the development of knowledge and skills.

N. How to Recruit and Retain Faculty From Historically Underrepresented Groups

The representation of social work faculty members from historically underrepresented groups remains low. It is important for administrators and educators to address this issue and create more supportive environments. This LDI will explore ways to successfully recruit and retain faculty members of diverse backgrounds, reflecting areas such as race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity/expression

M. Orientation and Professional Development for New Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors/Administrators

This LDI is designed for undergraduate program administrators with fewer than 3 years of experience. Experienced baccalaureate social work program directors will present and discuss material on the role and scope of administering an undergraduate social work program, program governance, academic leadership, fiscal and human resource management, environmental scanning, and accreditation.
