Recipients: SAGE/CSWE 2015 Award for Innovative Teaching in Social Work Education
The annual SAGE/CSWE Award for Innovative Teaching in Social Work Education is presented by SAGE, working in collaboration with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). This award was established in February 2012 to honor and recognize innovative teaching in social work education. The award's purpose is to
- promote innovative teaching in social work by highlighting it as it emerges, and
- recognize the individuals who have played significant roles in bringing it about.

The 2015 recipients, Bronwyn Cross-Denny (Sacred Heart University) and Vincent Guilamo-Ramos, Jane Lee, Gabriel Robles (New York University), and Armando Garcia Yañez (Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla) will be recognized on Sunday, October 18 from 11:30 am–1:45 am (Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, Ballrooms A–B) during the 2015 APM Awards Luncheon. Workshop Title: Making Research Accessible: Reducing Research Anxiety While Developing Competence
Overview:The workshop will focus on strategies to make research more accessible to the social work students and foster long-term inquiry and learning for effective practice. This process includes reducing research anxiety and phobia by viewing research within the framework of the social work problem-solving process. Strategies and techniques will be discussed.

Workshop Title: Designing Sustainable Global Social Welfare Programs: The Case of Unaccompanied Minors
Overview: This workshop will provide novel strategies for educating social work students and those from other disciplines for global practice with specific attention to Latin America as an important geographic area of focus. Given the evident impact of migration and the growth of the Latino population on the social welfare needs of the United States, we will highlight gaps and areas that warrant attention within the nation’s social service environment.
