Stephanie Rosado

Stephanie RosadoMFP master’s fellow Stephanie Rosado attends the University of Southern California and is a member of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports. Rosado also is an advocate for increasing access to mental health care for student athletes. She published an op-ed titled “Student Athletes Deserve Mental Health Care Access” in The Journal Gazette to bring focus to the lack of emphasis on the holistic well-being of student-athletes in collegiate athletic programs. Rosado interns at Park Center in Indiana and uses dialectical behavior therapy to empower underserved populations. Connect with Stephanie on LinkedIn.



 

Daniel Jacobson

MFP doctoral fellow Daniel Jacobson was honored at University of Pittsburgh's 43rd Annual Honors Convocation. Jacobson was recognized for receiving the MFP Doctoral Fellowship and the Kevin Corcoran Endowed Dissertation Fund. The Kevin Corcoran Endowed Dissertation Fund is awarded annually to one student whose research exemplifies the profession in the University of Pittsburgh's School of Social Work. This funding helps provide financial support for the dissertation. Jacobson's dissertation is titled, "El Proceso: Understanding Facilitators and Barriers to Reporting Sexual Assault Among Gay Latino Assault Survivors."

The Diversity Center’s Educator|Resource of the Month 
Educator | ResourceCSWE’s Center for Diversity and Social & Economic Justice’s Educator|Resource for April focuses on teaching about social work with immigrants, refugees, and migrants. It features course materials that prepare students to work effectively with and advocate for populations who were born outside the United States. The resource provides materials for active and applied learning, including a course syllabus, learning activities, discussion questions, and assignments.

Leadership Institute Program Director Academy Application Cycle Closes Soon
The CSWE Leadership Institute for the Program Director Academy closes on April 19, 2019, at 11:59 pm EDT. The Program Director Academy is a 1-year leadership certificate program focused on developing management and leadership competencies for program directors. The academy is specifically for current baccalaureate and master’s program directors who have been in their positions less than 3 years, have direct oversight of the program, and are transitioning from faculty to administrative roles. Zero Suicide Outcome Stories
This new series from the Suicide Prevention Resource Center highlights efforts to implement and measure the impact of the zero suicide framework in health and behavioral health-care systems. National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day
SAMHSA’s 14th annual Awareness Day event will take place on May 6, 2019, at 3 pm EDT to shine a national spotlight on the importance of caring for every child’s mental health.
