The University of Hawai‘i at Manoa Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work will receive $1 million bequest from the Richard S. and T. Rose Takasaki Endowment Fund. This will fund the Richard S. Takasaki Endowed Professorship that will help enhance the scholarly and research activities of the holder of the professorship held by a full professor in the School of Social Work.
Rutgers University School of Social Work and the St. Peter's Healthcare Network have partnered to run a program called New Brunswick Family Solutions, which will assist New Brunswick-area LGBT youth and their families. Margaret Ryan of Hillsborough, a clinical social worker, and Michael LaSala, Rutgers University social work professor and psychotherapist and author of Coming Out, Coming Home: Helping Families Adjust to a Gay or Lesbian Child, will be working with the families in this program.
Howard University School of Social Work has received a grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation to evaluate the effectiveness of racial equality standards in countering the overrepresentation of African Americans in child welfare systems.
