In 2013 the Institute of Medicine and National Research Council report New Directions in Child Abuse and Neglect Research examined child abuse and neglect and the serious public health issues surrounding it. Child Welfare Evaluation Virtual Summit Series, New Videos

The Children's Bureau has release two new videos and their related resources: Getting it Done: Partnering to Overcome Concerns About Data Sharing and Who Cares About Data Sharing: Making the Case to the Courts. Transcripts and descriptive audio versions are also available.

Get Ready for National Foster Care Month

The Children's Bureau and the Child Welfare Information Gateway are pleased to announce that the 2014 National Foster Care Month website is now live. This year's theme is "Building Blocks Toward Permanent Families," and the website provides resources for supporting permanence through reunification, kinship care, guardianship, and adoption, including resources specifically geared toward foster parents and youth.

Institute of Medicine Releases New Report

The Institute of Medicine has released a new report, Applying a Health Lens to Decision Making in Non-Health Sectors—Workshop Summary, which is based on a workshop held in September 2013 to foster cross-sectoral dialogue and to consider the opportunities for and barriers to improving the conditions for health in the course of achieving other sectors’ objectives, such as economic development and efficient public transit.

Integrated Arts and Media in Social Work Education

Now posted on the CSWE website are two APM presentations of lesson plans that incorporate oral histories, EPAS competencies, liberal arts, and audiovisual elements. These are provided as free resources for social work educators interested in curriculum development and multimedia teaching tools.

Population Health Implications of the Affordable Care Act

The National Academies Press has released Population Health Implications of the Affordable Care Act: Workshop Summary (2014), which is based on a workshop convened in June 2013 by the Institute of Medicine Roundtable on Population Health Improvement to explore the likely impact on population health improvement of various provisions within the Affordable Care Act.
