United States Assumes Presidency of the North American and Caribbean Association of Schools of Social Work

8/8/2012

The North American and Caribbean Association of Schools of Social Work (NACASSW) is a regional body of the International Association of Schools of Social Work. NACASSW encourages cross-country collaborations and sharing of educational methods and materials and promotes faculty development at the regional level.  The presidency of NACASSW rotates among Canada, the Caribbean, and the United States.  June 2012 marked the end of Canada’s presidency, and the position rotated to the United States. During the Social Work and Social Development Conference in Stockholm, Sweden, Mark Rodgers was unanimously elected president of NACASSW. Rodgers is also chair of the CSWE Global Commission and dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Marywood University.

All members of CSWE are automatically members of NACASSW and are strongly encouraged to attend and participate in the NACASSW meeting being held at the 58th Annual Program Meeting (APM) in Washington, DC. The NACASSW meeting at APM will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012, at the Washington Hilton Hotel (Jay Room, Lobby Level) from 5:30 pm–7:30 pm.
