Charles D. Garvin is being recognized for his seminal influence as an educator, scholar, and mentor over the course of his distinguished career. He is professor emeritus at the University of Michigan, having joined the faculty in 1965. He was chair of the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education in Social Work and of the Association for the Advancement of Social Work With Groups and has been on the boards of numerous other organizations.
